The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that candidates already enrolled in tertiary institutions are eligible to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE), provided they formally declare their matriculation status.
In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB warned that failure to make such a declaration could result in the forfeiture of both existing and prospective admissions.
Dr Benjamin noted that the directive had been widely misrepresented by what he described as “self-styled education advocates,” a situation he said had caused unnecessary confusion among candidates and their parents.
