The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has called on President Bola Tinubu to lift the State of Emergency in Rivers State and restore constitutional governance ahead of the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, IYC President Dr. Theophilus Alaye urged the president to demonstrate his commitment to democratic principles by reinstating Governor Siminilayi Fubara and all duly elected members of the State House of Assembly.
Alaye emphasized that Tinubu, as a key figure and beneficiary of Nigeria’s democratic journey, should seize the opportunity of Democracy Day to reaffirm the nation’s adherence to the rule of law and address recent political divisions.
“The restoration of constitutional order in Rivers State will be a bold step toward national unity and respect for democratic institutions,” Alaye said.
