The Rivers State Internal Revenue Service, RIRS, has said that registration of tricycles in the state will begin from next month, as many tricycles in the state are not registered.
Acting Board Charman of RIRS, Mr. Chibuzor Aholu made this known during a meeting with the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and other stakeholders in the transport sector in Port Harcourt on Friday,
According to him, any tricycle operator who fails to register would be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land when caught.
He stated that only the state government is backed by law to collect road tax and not Local Government Councils, beacause the roads are built by the state government.
Mr, Aholu also said the state government will not be a part of any system that allows for double taxation, and called on all those going against the law to desist from the act as it is illegal.
