Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has said that Nigeria will soon receive 12 fighter jets from the United States, to fight insecurity.
Emefiele, disclosed this at the end of a momonetary policy committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said the Nigerian and US governments had signed an agreement for the arrival of the jets sometime ago.
“About three years ago, the Federal Government and the US signed a pact that resulted in a government-to-government acquisition of military equipment out of which we are expecting 12 fighter planes,” he said.
The CBN Boss also stated that the country’s economy cannot grow following the spate of Insecurity across the country.
“If you want an economy to grow, the level of insecurity must be low because if there is a high level of insecurity like what we see today, the economy will suffer,” Emefiele stressed.
