Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has reacted to claims by the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi that insecurity in the state was as a result of high rate of unemployment.
Amaechi had made the claims during a reception to welcome two of Wike’s former commissioners to the All Progressives Congress, in Port Harcourt, on Sunday.
But, Wike in a swift reaction through his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri said Amaechi was indirectly indicting the Federal government, as they are constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and properties of Nigerians.
He said failure of the Buhari administation was responsible for the insecurity in the country, stating that it was disingenuous for Amaechi to blame insecurity in the state on umeployment.
“Is he (Amaechi) trying to indict his boss, President Muhammad Buhari, who is the Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and who is constitutionally saddle with the responsibility to provide security for Nigerians,” he said.
“Is unemployment fuelling insecurity in Kaduna, Plateau, Borno, Yobe, Ondo, Ebony, Imo and Niger states governed by the All Progressives Congress?” he added.
