The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Rivers State has convened a strategic meeting with critical stakeholders and members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) as part of preparations for the forthcoming bye-elections in the state.
The meeting brought together representatives of key security agencies and partner organisations to deliberate on measures aimed at ensuring a peaceful, credible, and hitch-free electoral process.
According to INEC, the engagement focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration, reviewing security arrangements, and addressing potential challenges ahead of the bye-elections in two state constituencies.
The bye-elections are scheduled to hold on February 21, 2026, and INEC assured stakeholders of its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent polls, while calling for the continued support of security agencies and other partners to guarantee the safety of voters, election personnel, and materials.
