The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country, marking the commencement of the second phase of the programme.
The registration, which restarted on Monday, follows the completion of the first phase that ended on December 10, 2025.
INEC disclosed that the initial phase recorded massive participation, with 9,891,801 Nigerians initiating the online pre-registration process. Figures released by the Commission show that as of November 28, 2025, a total of 2,572,054 registrations had been successfully completed. This includes 1,503,832 registrations finalized online and 1,068,222 completed through physical registration centres nationwide.
The commission explained that the temporary suspension between phases was to enable it to fulfil statutory obligations, including the public display of the voter register.
According to INEC, the register was displayed for claims and objections from December 15 to 21, 2025, in fulfilment of Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, at designated Local Government Area offices.
Although the CVR exercise has resumed in most states, INEC noted that registration remains on hold in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to ongoing electoral activities.
The Commission added that new dates for resumption in the affected areas will be communicated at a later time.
