The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that bye-elections will be held in two state constituencies in Rivers State—Ahoada East II and Khana II—on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

In a notice issued by the Commission, INEC said the exercise is in line with Section 28(3) of the Electoral Act, 2022. Voting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. across polling units in the affected constituencies.

INEC stressed that only registered voters whose names appear on the voter register and who possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be allowed to participate in the polls. Voters are also required to cast their ballots only at polling units where they are registered.

The Commission further disclosed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be deployed for the accreditation of voters during the bye-elections.

INEC reiterated its stance that there will be no voting without a PVC, urging eligible voters in the affected constituencies to comply with all electoral guidelines to ensure a smooth and credible process.
