The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Rivers State, beginning with the online registration on Monday, August 18, 2025.
In a press release issued on Thursday, August 7, INEC stated that the physical registration exercise will follow on Monday, August 25, across all 23 local government area offices in the state and the commission’s head office. The registration will be conducted on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays.
The exercise is targeted at eligible Nigerians who have turned 18, those who have not previously registered, and voters seeking to transfer their registration or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
INEC also urged registered voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of the exercise and retrieve their cards in preparation for the next election cycle.
The statement was signed by Geraldine Ekelemu, Acting Head of Voter Education and Publicity, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State.
