Wizkid has finally broken his silence on the escalating online feud between his fans and Afrobeat star Seun Kuti, son of the late music legend Fela Kuti.
The conflict began last week after Seun, publicly criticized Wizkid’s fan group, Wizkid FC, for allegedly disrespecting his father’s legacy. The issue reportedly stemmed from comparisons being made online that positioned Wizkid on the same level—or even above—Fela Kuti, a claim Seun strongly rejected.
In a video that quickly went viral, Seun accused Wizkid FC of dishonoring the late Afrobeat pioneer by making what he called “unfair and disrespectful comparisons.” He insisted that Fela’s impact on music, culture, and activism remains unmatched and should not be reduced to a rivalry with contemporary artists.
Seun’s comments sparked a wave of reactions across social media, with fans from both sides engaging in heated debates. While some defended Seun’s stance as a defense of Fela’s legacy, others accused him of being unnecessarily harsh toward Wizkid and his supporters.
On Tuesday evening, Wizkid, 35, finally addressed the controversy in a series of Instagram Story posts. In the first post, he shared a short video of a woman speaking angrily in Yoruba, criticizing Seun for his comments and accusing him of being disrespectful.
In a follow-up story, Wizkid wrote: “Fool at 40! I’m bigger than Fela.”
The statement immediately reignited the feud, with many fans interpreting it as a direct attack on Seun and his father’s legacy.
