The Rivers State Civil Society Organization, has called on the State Police Command to investigate the unlawful arrest and detention of a bolt driver, Lucky Onisokumen by officers of the Inspector General of Police monitoring team in Port Harcourt, few days ago.
Lucky Onisokumen was allegedly arrested and released by the team, after spending five days in detention, on yet to be known charges.
Chairman of RIVCSO, Enefaa Georgewill in a statement in Port Harcourt, yesterday, condemned the act. He said the inability of the Police to punish erring officers, is responsible for the hike in such cases.
He urged the commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka to ensure Justice prevails, so as to deter others from carrying out such illegal act.
Meanwhile, the bolt driver, Lucky Onisokumen, has named two officers, Azubuike and Joshua as members of the IGP monitoring team that arrested him.
Lucky, in a statement noted that he was denied access to his phone, and was starved for the five days he spent in detention.
