The trial of four dismissed Eagle crack officers accused of torturing automobile mechanic, Chima Ikwunado to death was yesterday adjourned to March 18, 2022 for continuation.
This was after the trial was stalled, due to the fact that the prosecution witness failed to appear in court.
Trial judge, Justice Fiberesima adjourned the matter, as cross examination could not hold.
The dismissed officers are currently standing trial for allegedly torturing Chima to death while in detention.
They had earlier denied the claims, noting that Chima died of natural causes, but autopsy conducted revealed that he died of torture.
Chima and four others were arrested by the officers for allegedly driving against traffic in Port Harcourt, in 2019.
While Chima was said to have been tortured to death, Ifeanyi Onyekwere, Ogbonna Victor, Ifeanyi Osuji, and Osaze Friday were unlawfully inflicted with various degrees of injuries
