The four Ikokwu auto mechanics now known as ‘Ikokwu 4’ who were arrested on false charges by officers of the Mile 1 Eagle Crack Team, have called on the Rivers State Police Command to ensure the prosecution of SP Benson Adetuyi, the former Eagle-Crack Commander.
They have also asked that one Inspector Amadi be prosecuted as the commander and said inspector were involved in their arrest and torture which led to the death of Chima Ikwunado.
The Ikokwu 4 made the call after the arraignment of the four Police officers involved in the matter at a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt yesterday. They expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that the Eagle Crack Commander and one Amadi were not among those arraigned.
The victims who further recounted their ordeal while in detention said, justice for late Chima Ikwunado would not be complete if the above mentioned officers are not prosecuted and brought to book. The former Eagle Crack Commander charged us to court on false allegation, one of them said.
The four officers arraigned yesterday had earlier been discharged from the Police force based on the recommendation of the force CID.
The courts remanded the four dismissed officers of the Eagle Crack Squad to the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter. The case was transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
