Port Harcourt – The President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof. Benjamin Olaba, has cautioned that any attempt to cut short the tenure of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, could threaten stability in the Niger Delta.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Olaba specifically warned the faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule, as well as other political actors, against moves to unseat the governor. He stressed that if such actions occur, the INC cannot guarantee the region’s continued peace or the steady increase in oil production.
His remarks come amid ongoing political tensions in the state, with concerns that instability could impact the nation’s vital oil sector.
