Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government council, Chijioke Ihunwo has paid promotion arrears of council workers.
Ihunwo, made this known after a meeting with the leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employees, Obio/Akpor chapter at the weekend.
According to him, the gesture is part of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers.
He said, “As part of our administration’s commitment to the welfare of our dedicated workforce, we met with the leadership of National Union of Local Government Employees, Obio/Akpor local government chapter.
“We have paid the promotion arrears of Obio/Akpor workers. I assured the workers union of our determination to make the welfare of our Council workers a priority.
“I informed them that we are running an open door policy, where workers are free to approach us on any issue, to ensure the development of Obio/Akpor local government.
