Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Amb Ihunwo Chijioke says the council is safe under his leadership as his administration will run an all inclusive government to advance development and improve the welfare of the people.
Ihunwo, made this known when councillorship candidates of other political parties in the October 5th, 2024 local government election paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Chamber of Obio/Akpor Local Government Secretariat on Thursday.
According to him, the local government elections are over, and that it was time for everyone to come together to work for the progress and development of the council
He also warned those planning to burn the Council Secretariat to steer clear or watch their investments burnt down.
“I have said before that nobody can burn our local government, if you burn our local government we will burn your investment. You can’t burn what someone built because of your quest for power, we won’t accept it.”
Ihunwo also announced seven of the Councillorship contestants as Special assistants.
“I’m seeing four female councillorship contestants, as the Chairman of Council, I appoint the four of them automatic Special Assistants, because it’s not easy for women to participate in politics, we need to appreciate them, and the men should give us three person’s for special assistants,” he said.
