The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has launched a new security action plan, “Operation Restore Peace” in the South-South region of the country, to put an end to crime and Criminality.
The IGP, flagged-off the operation, at the Sharks Football Stadium in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday.
He said the move is a continuation of the implementation process of the special operation across the country.
The IGP who thanked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and other South South Leaders for supporting the Police in carrying out their legitimate duties, condemned the increased cases of violence in the region.
He called on people of the region to support the Police, by providing useful information to them, during and after the period of the operation.
The IGP also assured that the operation would yield its desired results, as it would be ruthless on criminals.
