The umbrella group of the Igbo nation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reacted to rumuors that Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members are responsible for the attack on the SARS office at Oyigbo in Rivers State which left a police officer dead.
The group in a statement today by its South South Coordinator, Chinedu Ugwa denied the claims saying that Igbos were not responsible for the attack on the police facility on Nigeria’s Independence day October 1, 2020.
Ugwa called on the Rivers State Police Command to investigate the incident, as he said linking a particular Igbo ethnic group to the attack and killing was wrong and should be discountenanced by the public.
Some armed hoodlums alleged to be members of the proscribed IPOB, attacked the office of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at Oyigbo, which led to the death of one of its officers.
