The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to serve with sincerity and leave lasting legacies in their host communities.
Ibas, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, gave the charge on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.
He urged the 1,902 Corps Members—comprising 811 males and 1,091 females—to embrace their one-year service in Rivers State as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society.
“You are charged to be a source of joy to your host communities, known for their accommodation, hospitality, and generosity. Serve selflessly and leave behind enduring legacies,” he said.
The Administrator commended the Corps Members for completing the three-week orientation program designed to promote discipline, unity, and community development.
In his remarks, Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, applauded the state government for its support to the scheme, citing the recent donation of 1,000 new mattresses and plans to upgrade camp facilities.
Oleghe also urged the Corps Members to approach their national assignment with commitment and positivity, stressing the importance of building leadership, communication, problem-solving, and technical skills during their service year.
