Rivers State Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has called on Nigerian youths, particularly members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), to take up the mantle of leadership and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Addressing 2,018 Corps Members of the 2025 Batch A Stream I at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, Ibas urged them to embrace service, integrity, and patriotism. The Administrator, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, said the NYSC scheme remains a vital platform for fostering unity and nation-building.
He stressed the need for youths to demonstrate commitment, dignity, and leadership as they serve across various sectors. Ibas also praised the NYSC management for continuously adapting the scheme to meet contemporary demands.
In his remarks, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, disclosed that the camp had received 2,018 Corps Members, comprising 752 males and 1,266 females. He encouraged them to uphold the values of sacrifice and patriotism for the progress and peace of the nation.
