The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has declared that the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), has no legal authority to oversee local government elections.
Speaking on Friday, the party insisted that the current leadership lacks legitimacy and should not proceed with any electoral process. ADC chieftain Luckyman Igila argued that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) does not have the mandate under the current political arrangement to conduct elections.
He maintained that all electoral activities should be suspended until the reinstatement of the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly. Igila emphasized that the sole administrator does not represent the will of Rivers people and therefore cannot supervise a democratic process.
