The Rivers State Government, in collaboration with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), on Monday, May 19, 2025, commenced a four-day Transformational Leadership Training Workshop for senior civil servants in the state.
The workshop, declared open by Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, is aimed at enhancing the productivity and efficiency of key public sector officials, including Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Administrators, Heads of Local Government Administration, and Directors of Ministries.
Vice Admiral Ibas emphasized the importance of the training in fostering reform-driven leadership and improving governance outcomes. “This training is designed to equip you with the tools and insight necessary to lead through complexity, champion reforms, strengthen local government autonomy and deliver meaningful results to our communities,” he said.
He urged participants to engage actively in the program and apply the lessons to their professional responsibilities, noting that regular training is essential for overcoming stagnation and achieving sustainable transformation in public service.
The Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, lauded the initiative, describing the theme—Transformational Leadership for Sustainable Development—as timely and essential for addressing modern governance challenges. He commended the state government’s dedication to infrastructural renewal, social development, and economic growth through effective leadership.
The workshop will run through Thursday, featuring seasoned experts delivering strategic insights and practical tools to bolster public service delivery in Rivers State.
