The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has announced plans to use solar energy as an alternative power supply in the faculties, departments, and units.
The Acting Registrar, Mr Donald Okogbaa, in a memo, said the university has engaged the service of De-Sun Tech Digital Company Limited. The move is aimed at ensuring regular power supply to improve service delivery at the institution.
The option for an alternative power source is part of the resourcefulness of Professor Okechuku Onuchuku’s administration to reduce the loss of productive man hours due to denigrating power supply from the national grid.
It will also reduce the high cost of running generators which has worsened recently due to the unpredictable price of diesel and petrol which is depleting funds that could have been directed to other developmental projects.
