Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the continuous stay in office of the embattled Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami despite calls for his resignation, stating that he would have resigned if he were in his situation.
The Governor, who said this on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, said it was wrong to allow Pantami stay in office, over his position on terrorism in the past.
He said the time the Minister, made the comments does not matter as he ought to have resigned from office.
“No reasonable Government would allow a person with the issues around Dr Patami remain in its cabinet. Ordinarily the Minister should leave immediately but this Government doesn’t care,” he said.
“This should not be allowed, saying it was done in the past or he has repented is not the issue.
It is inexcusable, at best we can say the seeds he sowed has germinated and led to the killing and destruction of people. If I was in such a situation I would have tendered my resignation,” he added.
