Former host of TVC’s Your View, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has revealed her struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts during her time at the station.
Afolabi-Brown, who recently stepped down from the programme after 12 years, made the disclosure in an interview with media personality Chude. She explained that the pressure of feeling stuck in her career led to a mental health crisis.
“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she said.
The broadcaster added that her decision to leave TVC was inspired by the need to embrace a new phase in her professional journey.
“It was when we [TVC] were ten years that I knew that it was time [for me] to go to the next thing. I have been harbouring that thought for a while but I didn’t know how to go about it. But last year, I got that light-bulb moment,” she explained.
