Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) invitation of former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, amounts to a witch hunt.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Tuesday, Wike recalled his own experience with the EFCC in 2008, when he was arrested and prosecuted up to the Supreme Court before the case was eventually withdrawn for lack of evidence.
The minister faulted those describing Tambuwal’s invitation as politically motivated, stressing that there is nothing wrong with the anti-graft agency carrying out its constitutional mandate.
