A 12-year-old girl has been remanded at the Port Harcourt Remand Home, by a Chief Magistrate Court, for confessing that she eloped and had sex, multiple times with a man, Alfred Chikere who is in his thirties.
The man, Chikere Alfred is facing a two count charge, bordering on abduction and defilement of a teenage girl.
The teenager, during court proceedings confessed that the man is not her boyfriend. But she decided to stay with him, in his house for over a month, because she loves and enjoys sex.
Magistrate C.J. Digwe the trial judge, after listening to both counsels, remanded the man in prison custody pending the determination of his bail application.
According to reports, the girl’s parents searched for her for over a month, before it was discovered that she was camped in the man’s house.
Sources say after the girl was found, her parents accepted a settlement of N40,000 not to press charges against the accused. But an activist involved in the case, frowned at the development and informed some Human Rights Groups, who took over the matter.
