Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that he owns a Rolls-Royce vehicle, insisting that he purchased the luxury car himself and was not gifted the item.
Wike made the disclosure on Friday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme aired by Channels Television. His comments were in response to recent allegations by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who accused him of corruption and questioned his ownership of high-end vehicles.
“I have a Rolls-Royce; nobody gave it to me. I bought it myself,” Wike stated, dismissing Amaechi’s claims.
The minister further emphasized that he did not come from a humble background, unlike his predecessor. “I didn’t come from the same background as Rotimi Amaechi. As a student, I used a Mercedes-Benz. My father was a manager of several companies,” he said, adding that while his family was wealthy, they were “not too rich like the Dangotes.”
Wike’s remarks are the latest in the ongoing war of words between the two political rivals from Rivers State.
