Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that he will return to Rivers State on August 27 and 28 to campaign for the forthcoming local government elections.
Speaking on Channels TV, Wike dismissed criticisms over the legality of the polls being conducted by a sole administrator, insisting that the electoral body under Ibas has the constitutional authority to oversee the exercise. He stressed that the elections must hold as scheduled.
The minister disclosed that he would personally campaign for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate in his home local government area, Obio/Akpor, expressing confidence in the candidate’s victory.
Wike further criticized those describing the process as unconstitutional, urging them to challenge it in court. He maintained that only the judiciary has the authority to invalidate the conduct of the elections.
