President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that he almost withdrew from the 2023 presidential race due to doubts during the election campaign.
Speaking at a special Iftar held in his honor at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Saturday night, Tinubu revealed, “I almost dropped the idea of running for President.” The event also marked his 73rd birthday, during which he expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their overwhelming support and prayers.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, shared details of the President’s remarks in a statement issued early Sunday. The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu Appreciates Nigerians for Birthday Well Wishes, Reveals He Nearly Quit 2023 Presidential Race’, highlighted Tinubu’s reflections on the challenges he faced before ultimately continuing his pursuit of the presidency.
