THANKS IMMEDIATE PAST GOVERNOR FOR OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE ASALGA

The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Onengiyeofori George, DSSRS, has presented an estimated budget proposal of Six Billion, Eight Hundred and Thirty Three Million Three Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand Six Hundred and Ninety Four Naira Two Kobo (₦6,833,352,694.02) Only to the LGA’s Legislative Assembly on the floor of the House today in Buguma City.

Speaking during his presentation, the Council Chairman christened the 2024 budget as “Budget of Renewed Hope” and promised that it “will bring about the consolidation of the great achievements we have recorded so far.”

As the last Budget of his first tenure, Hon. George took time to reel out some of the gains recorded in his two and half years reign adding that, “we have done more with the little resources we have received, we have strengthened relationship between the Executive and the Legislative arms, and this partnership has helped to deliver good governance to the good people of Asari-Toru Local Government Area.”

He concluded by thanking the former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the FCT, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa), Life Bencher, for the opportunity and the enabling environment granted him to serve the good people of Asari-Toru LGA, adding that “the 2024 budget proposal is intended to renew the hope and aspirations of Asalgans as we continue to work for the good of all;” assuring Asalgans that “we will continue to be committed to providing a free, fair and just society that will ensure justice for all with equal opportunities for personal development and the continued development of our dear LGA.”

From the estimated total budget of ₦6,833,352,694.02, Recurrent Expenditure is estimated at ₦3,356,790,736.65, representing 49% of the total budget; Capital Expenditure is estimated at ₦3,408,228,430.43 representing 50% of the total budget; while a Mandatory Reserved fund is estimated at ₦68,333,526.94, representing 1% of the budget estimate.

The Executive Chairman was accompanied to the Hallowed Chambers of the Asari-Toru Legislative Assembly by former State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Omiete Eferebo, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Awongo Ikalama, LGA Chairman of PDP, Hon. Oduye Tomwest, Acting LGA Chairman of APC, Hon. Onengiye Walter, together with principal officers of Council and key political appointees.
