Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi says the reason crime is high in the state is due to the high rate of unemployment.
The Transportation Minister, said this while Speaking at an event to welcome defectors from the People’s Democratic Party into the All Progressives Congress in Port Harcourt, on Sunday.
He said when he was Governor of the state, no Police Station was blocked and that he never slept at Bori Camp.
Amaechi, stated that he never imposed curfew in the state, despite security challenges at that time, and that he never stole monies meant for contract.
“I have never taken alcohol. I don’t talk carelessly, I don’t invoke thunder to fire anyone.I don’t lie, I don’t cheat, I don’t steal. As governor, I did not put contract money in my pocket,” he said.
“I never placed curfew, even with serious security challenges. I never slept at Bori camp,” he added.
He commended the defectors for the bold step, stating that the party is on course to win the 2023 Governorship election in the state.
