A renewed outbreak of violence in Rivers State has left residents of Ueken Tai community in mourning following the killing of a young man by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The victim, identified as Mr. Goodluck Dimkpa, a father of one, was reportedly murdered during an attack on the Tai Kingdom community on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. The assault has triggered fear and unrest, forcing many residents to flee their homes amid concerns of further attacks.
The incident was confirmed by a local youth leader, Comrade Kelvin Leba Ndorne, who disclosed the development in a post on his Meta handle. He described Dimkpa as a vibrant and promising youth whose life was tragically cut short.
“This is a direct assault on the peace of our ancestral land. Ueken Tai and Rivers State at large are bleeding,” Ndorne stated, urging immediate intervention by security agencies and government authorities to avert further bloodshed.
The Rivers State Police Command was yet to react to the incident as at press time.
