Thierry Henry delivered a charming moment on live television as he greeted Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen in Nigerian Pidgin English following Galatasaray S.K.’s dramatic victory over Juventus F.C. in the UEFA Champions League knockout play-offs on Wednesday night.
Henry, who was on punditry duty for CBS, interviewed Osimhen after Galatasaray secured a thrilling 7–5 aggregate win to advance to the second round of the competition for the first time in 12 years.
The Nigerian striker played a decisive role, scoring in extra time to seal qualification for the Turkish giants. Galatasaray had earlier taken control of the tie with an emphatic 5–2 first-leg triumph.
Opening the interview with a playful touch, Henry said, “Victor, this is Thierry. First and foremost, how bodi? Bodi dey?”
Clearly entertained by the gesture, Osimhen replied with a grin, “Yeah, bodi dey fine.”
