Rivers State Head of Service, Chief Rufus Godwin has denied ongoing reports making rounds that five civil servants in the state have tested positive for the COVID-19.
Rufus Godwin in a statement in Port Harcourt today, equally denied reports that Block C of the state secretariat has been shutdown, following the death of a director of treasury. He noted that the report urging all civil servants to self isolate is false and the handiwork of mischief makers.
There have been rumours making rounds that a director of treasury had died from the dreaded COVID-19, which compelled the government to shutdown Block C of the complex. The news was widely circulated on many social media platforms (not Elanhub).
The virus which currently has no cure, has killed about 12 persons in the state including top government officials. This development has thrown residents into panic mood across the state.
