The family of veteran Nigerian highlife musician Mike Ejeagha has revealed the cause of the singer”s death.
In a statement, the late musician’s eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, disclosed that his father passed away on Friday night at the age of 93 after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer at Garrison Hospital in Enugu, where he had been receiving treatment.
Emma revealed that Ejeagha had been battling the illness since 2006 and was surrounded by family during his final moments. He also stated that the late musician had instructed the family not to embalm his body or keep it in the morgue for an extended period.
Ejeagha was widely celebrated for his contributions to Igbo highlife music and storytelling through song, with a career spanning several decades.
