The Rivers state Government has lifted the restrictions it had earlier placed on religious gathering in the state. This is to enable both Christians and Muslims observe religious activities this Easter season.
Governor Wike in a state-wide Broadcast on Thursday April 8, 2020, said that after the review of the COVID-19 situation, the Government decided to relax restrictions on religious gathering.
The Governor stated that both Muslims and Christians can observe prayers and church services with their full congregation on Friday and Sunday respectively. He urged Rivers people to seek God’s face and plead for divine intervention on the challenges faced by the state and the country at large.
Wike furthermore, said all the measures taken so far by the government to curb the spread of the virus have yielded result. He equally maintained that all other restrictions earlier imposed remains in force.
The Governor wished Rivers people a happy Easter celebration, as he thanked them for their support since the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
