The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has distributed foodstuffs to the 13 wards of Ikwerre Local Government Area, as part of his administration’s effort to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state.
Chairman of the Rivers State Covid-19 Palliatives Committee, Amb. Desmond Akawor on Tuesday distributed the items to representatives of each ward. He urged them to ensure the items gets to the poor and vulnerable people in their different wards.
The representatives made up of traditional rulers, cleric, youth leaders, were advised not to betray the trust reposed on them by the people.
The Chairman noted that a feedback mechanism to check the diversion of the foodstuffs has been established by state government.
In his remarks the Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Samuel Nwanosike commended the state governor for the donations. He assured Gov. Wike of the support of the people at all times.
