Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike has donated ten new Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Police Intelligence and Surveillance Center, as well as ten armored personnel carrier vehicles to the state police command.
The governor, made the donation during the commissioning of the Police Intelligence and Surveillance Center in Port Harcourt by the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, Today.
According to him, the newly built centre and the donations are the state government’s contribution to ensuring the safety of lives and properties in the state.
He commended the IGP for not playing politics with issues of security, noting that the state has been peaceful since he assumed office.
The Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman on his part commended the governor for the gesture.
The IGP said technology will help bring policing closer to the people and also enhance the work of police officers in the state.
The IGP also said the center will improve surveillance within and around Rivers State.
