Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has charged newly appointed Special Advisers to hit the ground running and contribute meaningfully to the delivery of effective governance in the state.
The governor gave the charge on Friday at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, shortly after swearing in the advisers and administering the oath of office.
Those sworn in as Special Advisers are Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Professor Peter Medee, Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro, and Dr Darlington Oji.
Governor Fubara explained that the appointments were part of deliberate efforts to accelerate government activities and regain lost momentum in the state’s development agenda. He stated that the appointees were carefully selected based on their capacity to add value and ensure continuity in governance.
According to him, the advisers are not new to the administration, having previously worked with him and fully understood the philosophy and direction of his government.
“What we are doing this morning is bringing in some persons to ensure that the wheels of governance continue to roll smoothly in our state,” the governor said. “These appointees are not new faces. They have worked with us and understand the philosophy of this administration. Ensuring that our goals are achieved will not be a problem.”
Governor Fubara cautioned the advisers against complacency, stressing that their appointments were not ceremonial but a call to serious work and increased productivity.
He congratulated them for being considered worthy among many qualified Rivers indigenes, describing the appointments as an opportunity to serve the people of Rivers State.
“This is not pleasure; it is work,” he stated. “You already know what we have come to do. You have proven yourselves in the past, and I am confident it will not be different this time. Don’t let us down.”
The governor reaffirmed hiis administration’s commitment to fulfilling its social contract with the people of Rivers State through purposeful leadership and effective service delivery, stressing that there was no time to waste in delivering dividends of democracy.
