Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday visited Yenagoa to commiserate with Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, over the death of the state’s Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
Governor Fubara led a high-powered delegation to the Bayelsa State Government House, where he expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a tragic development that goes beyond Bayelsa State.
He said the strong historical, cultural and political ties between Rivers and Bayelsa States make the grief a shared one, noting that the pain of losing such a key leader is felt across both states.
Governor Fubara extended the sympathies of the government and people of Rivers State to Governor Diri, the family of the late deputy governor, and the people of Bayelsa, praying for strength and comfort for them during the period of mourning.
