LAGOS — Gospel singer Kenny Saint Brown, popularly known as KSB, has attributed the premature death of Nigerian rapper Dagrin to his failure to pray for long life in his verse on her 2010 gospel track Turn Me Around.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Hoha podcast, KSB claimed that while Dagrin, whose real name was Olayitan Oladapo, asked for fame and material success in the song, he failed to include a plea for longevity.
“When he died, I cried,” she said. “The prayer requests on that song—God did them for him. But I asked God what happened, and He told me to go and listen to his verse. There was no request for long life—just ‘make I blow,’ ‘mo fe ma gun Bentley,’ and ‘let everybody know me worldwide.’ And God granted everything.”
Dagrin died in a car accident in Lagos in April 2010 at the age of 25.
