The Etche Council Boss, Hon. Obinna Anyanwu says he has never borrowed a dime in his life, and that he will never borrow for any reason.

Obinna, in a chat with us, yesterday, at his residence in Port Harcourt, said the key to that is prudent management of his resources and the council’s allocation.

He disclosed that he has been able to manage the resources of the council to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people, despite limited funds, unlike some chairmen who borrow for projects.

He posited that sustaining wealth is more difficult than making it, as he has never asked God to give him money but divine wisdom, health and protection, adding that the foundation of wealth is wisdom.

Dr. Obinna, also said he has never been a fan of politics, despite growing in a political home, stressing that his foray into politics and emergence as the council Chairman was orchestrated by God against all odds.

The pragmatic boss, hinted that he has always been a fashion designer who wanted to own a brand, until God called him to go and serve his people.

“I was looking at owning a fashion brand, until God said, you  have to go and serve your people. I could not resist it. It was not my making,” he said.

He explained that some persons doubted his ability to rule, resisted it, but in the end the will of God prevailed and today, his people are happy with him.

When quizzed on his plans for SMEs and Women Empowerment: The council boss disclosed that plans are underway for skills acquisition programme.

He said three persons comprising two males and a female will be picked from each of the 19 wards for the initiative .

He noted that 150 special advisers were recently appointed by him and that anytime he sets out for any function, he goes with nothing less than 30-50 women. “Women are respected and well treated in this administration,” he added.

On Cynthia Nwala’s Ordeal: Obinna said it is a political matter, as she was sent and misled by some persons. He denied sending thugs to attack or beat her up.

Political Ambition: “my journey is being designed by God. Anywhere he leads me, I follow,” he said.

He, furthermore, commended the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Barr. Nyesom Wike for his numerous projects in Etche land and other parts of the state.
