The Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Michael Odey, has called on the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas to lead with humility and uphold the rule of law.
Odey gave the charge while presenting Certificates of Return to the winners of last Saturday’s council polls. He reminded them that the certificates should not be seen as trophies of triumph but as mandates for service to the people.
He further advised aggrieved candidates and parties to seek redress in court, stressing that the constitution provides the legal pathway for resolving electoral disputes.
