The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo, has praised Governor Sim Fubara for reinstating Eze Anthony Owabie as the Nyewe-Eli and paramount ruler of Rumuepirikom. This reinstatement follows Eze Owabie’s initial dethronement by the former governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, more than eight years ago.
Ihunwo said Governor Fubara has corrected the unjust treatment of Eze Owabie who was sacked by Nyesom Wike for political reasons in favour of his friend, HRH Barry Opara
He made this known on Thursday when he led top government officials, traditional rulers and political leaders from the LGA on a solidarity visit to the palace of the paramount ruler of Rumuepirikom.
He described Governor Siminalayi as a just and fair man who does not associate himself with illegality, and advised the FCT Minister to go and beg the monarch
“I want to advise the FCT minister, chief Barr, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to come back and apologise to His Royal Highness, Eze Anthony Owabie for forgiveness, that is the only way the gods of the land can forgive him. HRH Eze Barry-Opara,” he said.
In his remarks, the paramount ruler of Rumuepirikom, Eze Anthony Owabie thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for coming to his rescue.
