A Coalition of Human Right Groups and Community based organizations in Rivers State, have accused the state government, INEC and the Police of masterminding the violence that rocked the just concluded general elections.
The group made the allegation in a petition sent to President, Muhammadu Buhari.
It also called for the setting up of an independent commission of inquiry to investigate the cases of violence, killings and other infractions before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
It stated that doing so would help bring the perpetrators to book to serve as a deterrent.
They referenced cases of political intimidation, harassment and violent attacks on the opposition parties and their supporters, particularly with the introduction of orders 21 and 22.
