Some Rivers women are currently protesting in Port Harcourt, against the rejection of the gender equality bill, by the National Assembly.
Lawmakers, had rejected the bill on the floor of the House, few days ago.
The bill seek to:
“provide for special seat for women in the National and State Assembly.
“expand the scope of citizenship by registration.
“provide for affirmative action for women in political party administration
“provide criteria for qualification to become an indigene of a state in Nigeria” and;
“give women a quota in the federal and state executive councils or ministerial and commissionership seats.
The protesting women want the National Assembly to pass the bill into law.
