The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, on Saturday conducted the Local Government Elections amid calls from some quarters for the exercise to cancelled due to an alleged court order restraining its conduct.
However, the electoral umpire against all odds went ahead with the exercise which saw candidates of the APP emerge victorious in 22 out of 23 councils while the Action Alliance won one.
Shortly after the winners were announced and presented with Certificates of Return, the state governor inaugurated the chairmen at Government House, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
