A major political truce may have been reached in Rivers State following a high-level reconciliation meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
The meeting brought together key political figures at the centre of the prolonged crisis in the state — Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, and Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule.
Sources familiar with the closed-door session confirmed that the parties agreed to put aside their differences in the interest of peace and stability in the state.
The reconciliation follows months of political tension and power tussles that threatened governance and legislative processes in Rivers State.
