Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents of the state to embrace peace, unity, and religious tolerance as they celebrate Christmas, describing the season as a time for reflection, renewal, and collective progress.
In a Christmas message to the people of Rivers State on Wednesday, the governor congratulated citizens for witnessing the festive season, noting that Christmas symbolises love, humility, sacrifice, and compassion, as exemplified by the life of Jesus Christ, whom he described as the Prince of Peace.
Governor Fubara urged residents to allow the enduring values of Christmas to guide their relationships with one another, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences. He emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence and encouraged citizens to recommit themselves to the responsibility of being their brother’s keeper, especially in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges.
He stated that the progress and development of Rivers State remain firmly rooted in unity and harmony, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the Rivers First agenda, which he said is driven by peace and focused on inclusive development.
According to the governor, only a united and stable Rivers State can achieve sustainable infrastructure development, economic growth, and a prosperous future for all citizens.
Fubara further appealed to residents to replace discord with dialogue and choose understanding over division, while also urging them to remain security-conscious. He noted that the safety of the state is a shared responsibility that requires vigilance, cooperation, mutual respect, and collective support.
The governor prayed for joy, love, and harmony in the homes of Rivers people during the festive season and wished them a peaceful Christmas and a smooth transition into a prosperous 2026 filled with progress and breakthroughs.
